Thank you very much. In another note – JF seems not working at this moment.

This series starts creatively enough but by the time Koji and Takuya became the main duo, I’ve gradually started losing interest in this series. Especially so because of the repeated “We won’t give up no matter what” speeches and continuous ass-kicking the kids keep receiving from the royal knights… and the fact that the rest of so called “main characters” are nothing more but cheerleaders anymore while “the leader” and “the loner” get their asses handed to them.T_T.

I watched ryuu’s subbed Savers episodes this summer and while that series has its’ multiple flaws (like the fact that the only female lead is pretty darn useless until her digimon reaches the prefect level, the fact that the said female’s character development consists of two frikkin’ episodes, the rinse and repeat formula of the first 11 episodes etc.) AT LEAST that series treated its’ characters more equally when it came to fighting. At least that series got more interesting and intense as the story began to reach the final ark… which is more than I can say about the last third of Frontier…

I agree with anonymous. I hate it, but still I do not lose my interest. In my opinion the season that treats the kids more unequally is tamers. The 3 main protagonists all have the same number of evolutions. But there are 5 more kids who do almost nothing! (ok, 4 of them). Savers may treat the characters equally but I have no interest in savers. I only watched the first 2 episodes and got bored of it.

I really don’t think the Royal Knights arc is as horrible as the fanbase tends to say. I mean, yeah, it can get really bad, but the standard “kids get their butts handed to them” stories really only make up five of Frontier’s 50 episodes (42-46). And the writers were at least making a bit of an effort to give the children equal spotlight until that point (with the IceDevimon episode and Tomoki’s two-parter).

Regardless, thanks for the new translation, guys! I hope you enjoy the last stretch of the series! There’s some great stuff in 47-50!

    • Personally, when I first watched Frontier, I didn’t mind the Royal Knights arc THAT much… Perhaps because I could just skim through the whole thing in a couple of hours. But now, when I actually had to TLC each episode, and pay attention to every line to see if something was off, I suddenly came to realize why everyone hated it so much. True, it’s really no more than six episodes that follow the same annoying formula, but… well, the same can be said for Endless Eight.
What makes it even worse is how several of these episodes actually played out in a way where everything SEEMED to be leading up to the kids actually winning, only for the Royal Knights to spontaneously win because the plot demanded it. Like, Village of Beginnings: “Yay, all the newborn Digimon and the spirits of the evil warriors are fighting with us, and are overwhelming the Royal Knights forcing them to flee! …Oh wait. They just spontaneously scanned the place anyway, and it didn’t even take any effort on their part -_-“, or “Yay, we defeated the SkullSatamon trio, and now the Flame Terminal is safe! …Oh wait, LordKnightmon came out of bloody nowhere despite having no direct involvment in the plot of this episode up to this point and scanned the place anyway.”

But ah well, at least we’re finally past that stretch now. And yeah, the last four episodes ARE actually quite good. I’d say the ending to the show is one of the main reasons why, despite all its flaws, I still think this series is better than Zero Two. (And Hunters, which was the only Digimon-series I thought was outright bad.)

    Yay! Thank you. <3

Finally, a new episode! Thank you! This episode was actually quite good. We got to see how each of them developed and it wasn’t boring like last few IMO. I think the Royal Knights arc is the only thing that Frontier screwed up a bit. Most of the episodes are too boring and silly like the Mamemon episode. And I don’t really get the mechanichs of absorbing the DigiCode of the entire land… All in all, it was actually really great and the ending proves that creators put some effort in it. Hope we won’t have to wait so much for the next release :D

Hooray! :) Only four more to go. THanks for all the hardwork despite your ebbing interest. It’s a real killer working on something you don’t really want to work on, especially when you’re not being paid or reimbursed aside from thankyous. So, thankyou again. :)

first of all thank you, you ARE a god for subbing the Digimon series for everyone here :) and not wanting to hurry you when are you planning on releasing the batch torrent for the tamers and the frontier series? only when you finish both of them? i’m totally willing to wait cause it’s more than worth it but just to know :) thank you again and keep up the great work ;D

    • Yeah. Frontier will be done in around 3 weeks from now. Not sure about Tamers since there’s quite a few episodes to do, but I’d expect sometime before the end of the year.
