The whole IceDevimon plot would’ve been a great post-Cherubimon episode. Takuya and Koji get their Digivices frozen and its up to the less powerful members of the team to save them. It doesn’t break any new ground, but it’s a cool setup that would have given Junpei and the others some much-needed spotlight if it had been used during the final arc.

But using it here in the freaking *middle* of the Cherubimon fight and completely halting the plot? Who the hell thought that was good storytelling?

But thanks so much for the new translation, as always. Just a little more to go! I can’t thank you enough!

    English dub Icedevimon was better.
Norio Wakamoto is really awesome, but I’m sorry Dave Wittenberg imitating Christopher Walken just takes the cake on this one. And dat dub dialogue.
“And let me tell you…it will be so joyous! All the pain! All the suffering! Don’t you agree?”

So I was reading the subtitle file, and I noticed the note you made about trying to preserve the joke regarding Neemon’s “meat and potatoes” line. I guess that’s related to IceDevimon’s “don’t lump me in the same bag” line. But it got me curious; what are they literally saying here?

I think you did a great job on the translation; I’m just a little intrigued after reading the sub file. :)

    • Nah, Neemon just mishears Bokomon’s line as “natto to jagaimo”, meaning “natto and potatoes”. When translated, “potatoes” rhymes with “horrendous”, but “natto” doesn’t exactly rhyme with “this/this is”. So I changed “natto” to “meat” so it actually sounds like a possible mishearing. Now that I think about it, “beans and potatoes” would have worked even better, but oh well. =P

But the fact that you’re asking means I probably didn’t do a very good job. =V

No, no, you did great! I really have no idea why I even thought it was connected to IceDevimon’s line. I think I saw him say “lump me in the same bag” and I started thinking of like, lumps of potatoes in bags, or something. Haha, even now, I can’t even explain what my brain was trying to tell me. So it was totally my fault for misinterpreting it.

I honestly can’t think of any better translation than what you did. Wordplay is absolute hell to adapt from language to language. I thought about it for a good long while, and the only thing I could think of that came anywhere *close* was “What a mean stud!” “Beans and spuds?” Haha, but that 1.) sounds beyond stupid, and 2.) requires a mistranslation of Bokomon’s line (not to mention, it just makes Bokomon sound very… strange). =P

So really, you did great, and I prefer your translation over completely rewriting the dialogue. Thanks for explaining it to me! I always like reading through the sub files to see the notes you guys leave for additional context. =)

Erm… Just asking. After I downloaded the AVI(XVID) format video and then transfer the file to my phone, the sound does seem to be lower than the sound I had when watching on my computer. The volume on my phone also was set to max. I was wondering if this is just my phone issue or another one altogether. Hope I don’t sound stupid.
